Holger Rune played his second singles match at the 2023 Hopman Cup, and this one was another loss for the Danish player.

Rune opted to play the Hopman Cup together with Clara Tauson, and while she's been delivering victories for her country, Rune couldn't do the same. It's a rather surprising thing for the Danish player who loves to play on clay generally, but it's not been going well for him in Nice.

He first lost to Leandro Riedi yesterday and now added another loss, though this one was even worse than the first one. Arguably, the match against the Swiss player was quite competitive, while this was the opposite. It wasn't close, and it wasn't competitive as Rune just unraveled on the court.

Gasquet is a very experienced player, and he can beat players if given the chance. His angles from both sides are still some of the cleanest, and Rune had tremendous issues with that. He was also rushing quite a bit in some of these, something he used to do a lot but generally got better at with time.

6-2 was the score for Gasquet in the opening set, a set where Rune had two break points but failed to use either. There was quite a bit of wind as both players struggled to hit the serve but Gasquet had far better control in the rallies.

That persisted in the second set, another one which the veteran won rather comfortably. This time around, Rune didn't even have any chances as both players got used to the conditions a served better. It was just the rallies where Rune struggled to keep the ball in play a lot.

The final score was 6-2 6-3 for the veteran who has given France a chance to win the tie. Mixed doubles later today to decide.
