'Reminds Me Of Novak': Alcaraz's Return Compared To Djokovic By Berrettini

Matteo Berrettini called Carlos Alcaraz the best player in the world after their Wimbledon match as he broke down what makes it so tough to play him.

Berrettini and Alcaraz contested a spot in the quarter-final at this year's Wimbledon Championships and the Spaniard prevailed. He lost the opening set but then rallied in superb fashion to win the next three and set up a match against Holger Rune who defeated Grigor Dimitrov.

Playing Alcaraz is a tough thing to do; Berrettini admitted that after the match. The Italian was asked what makes him so hard to play and he compared him to Novak Djokovic a bit, especially in the way he reacts, his reflexes.

I think his reaction times are unbelievable. He goes with a slice on the first serve. When he does, he has a great feel, great hands. It's always tough. You know the first shot, you have to be precise, because he likes to play in defense. That's the tricky part. He's staying so close on the second serve. Doesn't matter if you mix it up, he's always finding the right time.

Reminds me of Novak a little bit, this kind of like reflex, time of reaction. Like a server, I feel this. But I also feel when I found the right rhythm, he didn't like that. It's a matter of few things. Today he was better than me.

Praise is nothing new when it comes to Alcaraz. Many current and former players have sung praises upon the Spaniard and it's well deserved. He recently joined an elite company by winning his first trophy on grass.

He also declared his intention to win Wimbledon, so keep an eye on that. Especially if we see the young Spaniard take on Djokovic in the final in the All England Club.
