Cameron Norrie is supposed to play at the 2024 United Cup in a few days, but his tennis shoes are missing, and he's trying to get them back.
Traveling can be such a rewarding experience unless your bag goes missing. Then it turns badly rather quickly, and that's what happened to Norrie recently as he was making his way Down Under.
The Brit signed up to play for his country at the United Cup, which begins in a few days on December 29th. Like most tennis players, Norrie already arrived in Australia to get ready, but the trip didn't go that smoothly.
Somewhere during the journey, he lost his tennis shoes. He pleaded with the airline (Qantas) through his X profile to try to recover his luggage so he could play.
It's not the first time something like this happened to a tennis player because luggage gets lost all the time, and considering how much tennis players travel, it's bound to happen often.
Would be nice to have my tennis shoes for Xmas @Qantas please find my bag.
It's a developing story, so we'll see if Norrie gets his tennis shoes back or if he has to pick up a new pair. Most tennis players hate playing in completely unworn tennis shoes as they're a bit too firm.
Most of them prefer to wear pairs that have been worn multiple times because it just feels most comfortable. That's why they're so picky about their tennis shoes, and that's the case for Norrie too.
He'll have plenty of time to fix the situation until the Australian Open, which is the far more important event. By the time it rolls around, Norrie will either get the shoes back or find a new pair and wear them out in practice.
