Djokovic Top Australian Open Favourite Despite Challenge From Alcaraz & Sinner Says Henman

Several players can win the upcoming Australian Open, but for former ATP player Tim Henman, one player stands above the rest, and it's Novak Djokovic.

The Serbian won the event in 2023 and will be the defending champion at the upcoming edition. He's also the most decorated tennis player ever in Melbourne, winning 10 of them in his career.

It was his first Grand Slam title, and the special bond between him and the Australian Open never stopped. Year after year, he kept coming back and lifting the trophy, and that's likely to happen this year, according to former player Tim Henman.

In a conversation with Eurosport, the Brit made a case for why Novak Djokovic is the clear favorite ahead of both Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner.

I would put Djokovic as the clear favourite, there's no doubt in my mind. And then second favourite, I would put Alcaraz and Sinner together.

Both Alcaraz and Sinner have beaten Djokovic before, and both are capable of winning the event as well. Alcaraz has won two majors already, so he's proven capable, and Sinner recently found a new level.

He beat Djokovic twice in the span of a week at the end of the year, so they will certainly be in the mix for the Australian Open.

Now, I know Alcaraz has won a couple of slams, but for me, Sinner, the last couple of months of 2023, he played at a different level, a new level for him. And I think that quality, but also the confidence and belief from winning those big matches, beating so many top ten players consecutively, was fantastic.

Ultimately, there are only four, and Henman could see all of them walk away with at least one in 2024. We'll see what happens.

Look, there's only four majors next year. I wouldn't be surprised if Djokovic won a couple and Alcaraz and Sinner won each. So only time will tell.
