Nick Kyrgios is set to rejoin Team World for the 2023 Laver Cup, bringing his distinctive flair to the court.
The Australian has confirmed his participation in the sixth edition of the Laver Cup, taking place at Rogers Arena in Vancouver from September 22-24, 2023. Kyrgios, who is on the road to recovery following knee surgery earlier this year, will once again join forces with Captain John McEnroe's Team World.
The Canberra-born star is no stranger to the Laver Cup, having represented Team World in four of the five editions of the event. Now, he will be joining the likes of Felix Auger-Aliassime, Frances Tiafoe, and Taylor Fritz, who were all part of Team World's 2022 success in London.
"I’m pumped to be a part of Team World. As I’ve said many times before, a kid from Canberra representing the world, it’s pretty special and I’m ready to go to battle."
Team John McEnroe was also excited to announced the Australian as one of the players joining his team, as Kyrgios always shows his best in team events such as the Laver Cup.
“Nick is one of the most talented guys on tour. We saw the level of tennis he’s capable of last year at Wimbledon and we’re all looking forward to seeing him on the court again soon. He brings great energy and passion. I’m excited to have him back on the team in Vancouver.”
Despite missing last year's Laver Cup in London, where Team World secured their first-ever title, Kyrgios is eager to contribute to the team's continued success.
“The fact that Team World finally got one on the board is amazing. I’ve been a part of the team four times and we came up short after being close so many times. The fact that now we know we can do it is a special thing. Hopefully, I can just add to that team, not change the spirit up too much, just add some positive vibes and see if we can get it done again.”
