"My wife is fine" - Nadal calms worries about wife's condition

| by Zachary Wimer

A few days ago, news broke of Rafael Nadal’s wife, Maria Francisca Perello’s hospitalization; however, Nadal has come out and confirmed that everything with his wife is fine.

Nadal's wife is currently pregnant, 31 weeks to be precise, but according to reports from his native Spain, she was admitted to the Mallorca hospital recently, which got a lot of fans worried.

While someone can be hospitalized for even the most minor issue, the fact that Nadal’s wife is currently pregnant makes it a bit more concerning, especially since the report mentioned the word 'surgery.'

Many fans got really worried about what might be going on and sent Nadal a lot of good wishes because of it. The report from MARCA further states that the baby or the mother weren’t in danger, but she was still advised to remain in the hospital for a few weeks under supervision.

Nadal, who is currently away from home and in the United States for the US Open, confirmed to the media that regardless of what has been said in the media, the condition of his wife is good, and she is fine, which is really great news.

"As much as certain types of information came out in the press about my wife's condition, my wife is fine."

It’s impossible to tell what Perello’s current condition is, but as some fans pointed out, if there was something seriously wrong, Nadal would have likely traveled back home, which hasn't happened as he's preparing for the US Open.

The fact that he’s remained in New York through this likely signals that it’s not serious. For now, Nadal is focused on the US Open. His next match is against Richard Gasquet, against whom he has a 17-0 record, hoping to make it 18-0.
