Despite the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, the LTA has stated that the 2023 Davis Cup group stage played in Glasgow will go as scheduled.
Queen Elizabeth II passed away on September 8th, 2022. As a result, many events that were supposed to be held in the upcoming weeks were called off or postponed, such as the Premier League matches.
After this weekend's Premier League games were postponed, there were worries that the news would mean that next week's Davis Cup match in Glasgow would not take place.
However, now, the LTA has officially announced that the event will go on as planned, with the Great Britain team donning black armbands and a moment of silence prior to each day's play.
"Everyone at the LTA shares the feelings of the nation in expressing deep sadness at the death of Queen Elizabeth Il and gratitude for her immense contribution to British life."
"After careful consideration and consultation with stakeholders, and in line with the National Mourning Guidance, the LTA can confirm that the intention is for the Davis Cup Group Stage hosted in Glasgow to proceed on 13th-18th September."
"In order to pay tribute to Her Majesty the Queen there will be a minute's silence at the start of each day's play, the playing of the national anthem, and the Great Britain team will wear black armbands or ribbons."
In addition, if the Queen's funeral falls on the day of the event the following week, the tie will be postponed for the day. The United States, Great Britain, Kazakhstan, and the Netherlands will fight in Glasgow for a spot in the quarterfinals, which will be held in November.
"Whilst the date of the state funeral is not yet confirmed, should it take place during the planned dates of the Davis Cup there will be no play on that day, and the affected tie will be rescheduled."
