Nick Kyrgios has been away from the tennis court for a very long time, but he should return to the courts this season.
The last time the Australian competed on a tennis court was last year in Stuttgart, where he made his comeback after a very long time. It wasn't a good match, as he lamented knee issues to his team and lost it.
He lost to a player who rarely plays on grass, which kind of showed that his loss wasn't a positive sign, considering the Australian is one of the best grass-court players in the world. It really wasn't, as things only went worse after that.
He missed Wimbledon because of a wrist injury, not a knee injury that he dealt with, which was another twist. However, the wrist injury would keep on bothering him for the rest of 2023.
He's yet to return, as his Australian Open was spent in a commentating booth rather than on the tennis court, but he's nearing a return. Kyrgios is truly going to step onto the courts again, at least according to his own words.
Asked by a fan during a Q and A session on Instagram when he'll return, Kyrgios provided a relatively vague response.
"I’ll be hopefully back on court in a month if all goes well."
He didn't really say he's going to be back to playing competitive tennis on the ATP Tour, but more so that he'll be on the courts, which can even indicate practice courts.
He also stated 'hopefully,' which doesn't send the most confident message, and then he even added 'if all goes well,' which is like a call for things to 'not go well.'
Overall, Kyrgios message likely didn't provide a lot of optimism for his fans, still, it's good to know that he's working on his comeback.
