Is this a real, international tennis magazine?! @atptour @Nicarzani Wow. 🤯😳🫢🫣
Jelena Djokovic is an active Twitter user and she will often use it to defend her husband Novak Djokovic whose name is oftentimes brought up on the platform.
Djokovic's name was once again brought up on the platform and this around it was done so by a US-based tennis magazine. It happened because of Djokovic's handling of his pullouts this year. Djokovic first caught fire earlier this year when he opted to stay on the entry list for the Indian Wells Masters despite knowing that he won't play due to his inability to enter the US as an unvaccinated player.
Having no other options, the organizers were forced to include the Serbian in the draw and when he pulled out the next day, it left the draw very unbalanced as he was the top seed. He was heavily criticised in the tennis community and he almost did something similar for Montreal. Once again he did not pull out early but rather waited for the day before the draw to do so.
Racquet, a US-based tennis magazine took issue with that writing on Twitter:
"Dunno why this guy keeps entering tournaments hoping they’ll change their rules for him"
Djokovic's wife quickly cmae to his defence writing:
"Is this a real, international tennis magazine?! @atptour@Nicarzani Wow."
She tagged the PR person of the ATP alongside the Tour in the response as well.
