'If Novak Wins This Point, It's Over': Stubbs Identifies Crucial Point In Djokovic's Wimbledon Loss

Former player Rennae Stubbs identified the crucial point of the 2023 Wimbledon final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz that changed tennis history.

The 2023 Wimbledon Championships saw tennis legend Novak Djokovic combat rising star Carlos Alcaraz and the latter came out on top. It was predicted that way by IBM's match prediction software, even though many were suspicious.

Alcaraz himself didn't think it was possible, but he got it done proving himself and everyone wrong. It was probably the most exciting Wimbledon final since the 2019 one and the numbers back it up. It was quite watched by fans, and they saw a show.

One point, in particular, stands out, an incredible point, one that was almost impossible for Alcaraz to win, but he did. In ways, it was the match summarised because it demonstrated how experienced Djokovic was and how close he was to winning but simply couldn't deliver the finishing blow.

Djokovic was left in disbelief as Alcaraz celebrated the rally, a crucial one as identified by Rennae Stubbs, who reacted to it on social media a day after the match finished. She pointed out how it changed Wimbledon's history, which would have been very different had Djokovic won it.

This point defined the final … I’m convinced if Novak wins this point, it’s over and i believe it gave Carlos the opportunity to see that Novak is human. This point changed the course of Wimbledon history.

The point in question? Well, the one where Djokovic missed a drive volley falling back on a break point in the final set. Had Djokovic broken that time he would have been on the doorstep of making further tennis history. He didn't and he was then broken in the next game demolishing a racquet and that was that.
