Benoit Paire opted to turn his life around after struggling in hopes of improving his tennis that has been lacklustre for two years.

The French player, who has a ton of potential but a dubious work ethic, was previously consistently ranked among the top 50. He gradually lost drive, and the mental health problems brought on by the epidemic caused him to lose the enthusiasm he previously had for tennis.

It reflected in his tennis as his results in the last two years were very poor. This year, in particular, was bad and he decided to make some changes: "I cut a little, I refocused on the important things, I stopped going out, partying, and drinking alcohol. I paid attention to a lot of things. To resume sports hygiene. That's what I missed for two years. There, I want to do it, I don't know why now."

Prior to the challenger tournament in Brest, he also chose to practice at the Nadal Academy in Mallorca. Paire further explained to the French reporters present what he hopes to get out that:

"I will take the matches one after the other. It's been a long time since I said that but if I'm here, it's to win the tournament, that's my goal. Before I came to tournaments to do extras, now I feel that my level is coming back, my legs are coming back. I did a lot of physicals and I feel like I can come back."
