Nick Kyrgios is no stranger to code violations as he rarely, if ever, plays an event without getting one but in Washington, he kind of issued one.

The situation happened during his match against native Tommy Paul in Washington last night and it was Kyrgios clapping back at the umpire after he gave him a code violation. He phrased it in a way that seemed like he was issuing a code violation to the umpire.

So it happened after Paul saved a match point against Kyrgios at 4-5 in the 2nd set. Kyrgios slammed a ball and umpire Richard Haigh gave him a code violation for ball abuse. However, he took a very long time to do so prompting Kyrgios to fire back:

"What about ‘Code violation: bad idea by you to slow the game down’?”

Kyrgios was obviously not happy with the umpire waiting such a long time to issue the warning insinuating that he messed with his focus as he was preparing to return the set which is fair but also moot since Paul was not even serving. It was very funny though as he kind of issued the umpire a code violation that most never saw before.
