Jannik Sinner is in London to play tennis though a lot of people have been distracted by his wonderful Gucci bag.
As a brand ambassador for Gucci, Jannik Sinner can be spotted more than once carrying something from the brand. At Wimbledon, it's his bag that catches the spectator's attention because it's not all white. It has the traditional motives of Gucci as he had to ask organizers whether he could possibly bring it out on the court for his matches.
Well, it's been part of his matches since the event started and it's doing its thing. It caught attention; so much so that he was asked about it after his quarter-final victory. Sinner praised the bag as a nice one but also denied being the most stylish player on the ATP Tour.
No, I'm not. As I say, the bag, it's nice to see. I know the family of Gucci very well. In the other way, if would influence me to play better or worse, I would not do it. It's not a racquet change. It's not a shoe change, which is something different. I'm here to play tennis. Winning matches means much, much more than carrying on a bag.
Sinner booked his best-ever Wimbledon result by beating Safiullin in the quarter-final. He was never in the semi-final in London before but he's been in Grand Slam semi-finals before. It's a challenge he failed to overcome last year in Novak Djokovic but he's hopeful this year works out.
He'll have the Carota Boys backing him so that should be quite a spectacle. When it comes to the win over Safiullin, Sinner expressed that making it to the semi-final means a lot.
It feels good. It means a lot to me. Obviously, as I said on court, there is a lot of work behind this. Very happy that I can play my first semifinal here in this special place, a special surface. So let's see how it goes the next match.
