'Gonna Be Carrying Tennis For Next Decade': Alcaraz Backed By Kyrgios After Throwing Racquet

by Evita Mueller

Nick Kyrgios clapped back at a Novak Djokovic fan who pointed out that Carlos Alcaraz didn't get a code violation during his match against Tommy Paul.

A certain Djokovic superfan is rather known in online circles for his notorious support for all things Djokovic. While generally complimentary to Alcaraz, the fan pointed out how Alcaraz didn't get a code violation for a racquet throw, something that possibly would have been enforced if some other player on the ATP Tour did it.

Alcaraz didn't swing the racquet too violently or towards the crowd but he did throw the racquet, which by rule should have been a code violation. Somebody came to his defence. Somebody who actually correctly predicted him to win the US Open last year and somebody who is pretty familiar with all things racquet throwing. It was Nick Kyrgios who didn't mind Alcaraz showing emotions on the court.

No code violations for boy wonder.

Who the fu*k cares…. The dude is gonna be carrying the tennis load for the next decade.. good on him for showing he is human. Frustrated not playing up to standards. Also let’s start giving codes to umpires

Kyrgios defends Alcaraz

It was a very frustrating match for Alcaraz, who didn't play well and was nervous for much of it. He showed his frustration more than once and in various ways. Kyrgios coming to his defence is no surprise, as he really likes the Spaniard.

He's also familiar with the superfan of Djokovic, especially from the time when Kyrgios criticized the Serbian regularly. The fan responded in the comments, but Kyrgios wasn't interested in engaging anymore.

Although Alcaraz lost the match against Paul in Toronto, he will get a chance to extend his winning streak against Novak Djokovic to two matches, as both are set to compete at the 2023 Cincinnati Masters.
