Federer Hopeful Of Alcaraz & Djokovic Joining Forces In 2024 After Laver Cup Thrashing

Roger Federer has some plans for the 2024 Laver Cup, bringing back Novak Djokovic and finally getting Carlos Alcaraz.

Team Europe dominated the first few editions of the Laver Cup, as Team World only got their first win last year. Due to various cancellations, this year's Team Europe wasn't the strongest one, and it reflected in the way they were outplayed.

Team World swept them on the first day, with Casper Ruud providing the only win for Team Europe on the second day. It didn't matter much, as Team World ultimately won by sealing the doubles on the final day. Roger Federer was in attendance and gave his verdict on the event following the final day, congratulating Team World on the victory.

They destroyed Team Europe. Team World played fantastic, they really brought the energy. Everybody brought a point, they were stronger in the doubles. In the singles too, they were moving fast, they were ready to go. They thoroughly deserved victory.

Federer on Team World's dominance

Next year's edition moves back to Europe, and Federer will be there. He'd like the team to get revenge, and he'll try by lobbying a few players to commit to the event again. Federer has Novak Djokovic in mind, who has played a couple of times at the event already, and Carlos Alcaraz, who has yet to play one.

The Swiss ace thinks they would be a rather dominant team, so maybe next year we will see the Djokovic/Alcaraz doubles. It's not like we might see it anywhere else.

I’d like to see Novak again – Alcaraz and Novak in the same team,” he said. “Sascha Zverev would be great for the German market. Someone like Holger Rune, that really hurt Team Europe (him not being there). Medvedev would be great. I like watching Rublev and maybe someone (else) will come through.
