Novak Djokovic is by far the biggest favourite to win the 2024 Australian Open, according to former ATP player Mark Philippoussis.

The Australian is a huge fan of Djokovic, admiring many things about him but mostly his incredibly professional approach. Djokovic spoke often about his commitment to tennis, with his book laying out some of the details of his approach as well.

It's a very dedicated one, which makes sense because you need that type of approach to become arguably the greatest tennis player of all time. That approach gives him a leg up against some of his opposition who are committed but not as committed as him.

As incredibly professional as you've seen Rafa (Nadal) be or (Roger) Federer, where they're competing and making sure that they're going into grand slams mentally and physically the fittest, Djokovic (has) taken that to a level and it's just amazing.

You have to eat, breathe and sleep tennis to be winning multiple grand slams. Not only has he won 24, which is a crazy number, he's still continuing to see where he can improve.

Djokovic proved it again this year by winning three out of the four Grand Slams while returning to number one in the rankings. Eventually, you just have to pause and marvel at what he's been able to do because his outworking players who are well over a decade younger than him.

As a former player, Philippoussis, who talked to The West, certainly has great admiration for his dedication.

Like, where can he get his one per cent here, one per cent there. "Is it on the eating, which we know he does everything on the eating side. What he puts into his body, what he does before the match, the way he warms up, his stretching. He looks at one per cent, everywhere, because that counts in the grand slams.

The 2024 Australian Open is approaching and according to the Aussie former player, Djokovic is by far the biggest favourite. He was amazing at the US Open and historically dominated in Melbourne.

He's without a doubt the favourite going into the Australian Open and I don't see him slowing down soon. He was incredible to watch at the US Open. If he's got a practice court at one o'clock, he's in the gym by 11 o'clock. He's walking onto the practice court already sweating.
