Novak Djokovic is back on top of the ATP Rankings and he's also in the ATP Race lead following his Roland Garros triumph.
Djokovic played a really solid final to defeat Casper Ruud in straight sets and lift his 23 grand slam trophy. It was a superb conclusion that allowed him to return to number one on the rankings among other things.
The Serbian is also back in the lead for the ATP Race after the triumph in Paris gave him an additional boost of 2000 points. He is now at 4745 points, with 4000 of those coming from the Australian Open and French Open triumphs.
He is about 400 points ahead of Daniil Medvedev who has had a tremendous season this year winning multiple trophies, including a few big ones. The Russian's current point tally is 4310. Third on the list is, of course, Carlos Alcaraz who has 4175 with consistency monster Stefanos Tsitsipas being 4th with 2950 points so far.
None of this is really surprising and the next batch of players certainly shouldn't surprise anyone either. Holger Rune is 5th with 2485 points after a really solid clay season which featured two ATP 1000 finals.
Jannik Sinner is currently 6th after a solid run earlier this year though the form has been shaky lately. Andrey Rublev is surprisingly only 7th despite his Monte-Carlo Masters triumph.
Finally, number 8 and currently the last qualifying spot for the ATP Finals is Casper Ruud which is mostly due to his Roland Garros run. The Norwegian was firmly outside of the top 10 following a really poor start of the season which saw him actually lose more matches than he won. Those 8 would play at the ATP Finals if they were to begin today. It's a pretty similar field to what we saw last year in Turin.
