After playing a semifinal match for 3 hours and 43 minutes, Carlos Alcaraz played another match on Sunday and won again to lift the trophy at the 2022 Barcelona Open.

Alcaraz seems to be almost unstoppable in 2022 season. The 18-year-old Spaniard won already 23 out of 26 matches he played and moved to the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings.

After winning titles in Rio de Janeiro and Miami, he added another title at the 2022 Barcelona Open after defeating Pablo Carreno Busta in the final.

The young rising start wasn't as big favourite at the beginning of the match as he would be on any other day. The reason for this was the marathon match he played earlier on the day.

On the other hand, his opponent spent only around 100 minutes on the court and had a major advantage. But this advantage never appeared on the court.

After both players held their service games to love in the first 4 games, Alcaraz launched a big offence and created a total of 8 break point opportunities in the next 3 games on his return. He converted two of those to win the first set 6-3.

In the second, the story was very similar. Players held their serves firmly in the first four games, but the fourth game was the last that Carreno Busta won in the final of the 2022 Barcelona Open as Alcaraz went on to win four games in a row and win his third title of the season.

This victory moves the young Spaniard to the 9th place of the ATP Rankings what makes him the best player under 23 years in the rankings. Moreover, he's just 70 points behind second Stefanos Tsitsipas in the ATP Race and he's definitely one of the favourites to win a Grand Slam this year.
