After Felix Auger-Aliassime, Jannik Sinner, Sebastian Korda, and many others, it looks like Carlos Alcaraz might be the hottest prospect to become world number 1, and Boris Becker believes that it might happen.

Carlos Alcaraz showed how strong he can be on clay when he won the 2022 Rio Open earlier this year, and he also showed his hard-court qualities when he reached the semifinals of the Indian Wells and won the 2022 Miami Open.

Overall, the young Spaniard proved that he might be the next big thing on the ATP Tour, and the majority of the analysts agreed on this. Although Alcaraz still has to prove that he can deliver the top of his game constantly, what he showed during the Sunshine Swing was truly remarkable.

One of the analysts and former players who agrees on the Spaniard's potential is Boris Becker, who recently spoke to Eurosport's 'Das Gelbe Vom Ball' podcast about his undeniable qualities at such a young age.

"He's only 18, but you only have to look at the way he's played over the last six months. He went to Miami and just kept winning. He has the mentality to not just be satisfied with reaching a semi-final, or be playing the best players in the world - he wants to go further and [we saw that] by winning his first Masters title against a top opponent. So he can become No. 1, but anything can happen in sport."

Becker, who recently claimed that the teenager should take a break, mostly praised his mentality. On the top ranks, it's most often not about reaching the quarterfinals or the semifinals, but winning the trophies, and that's something that the youngster seemingly wants to do.

According to the former German player, Alcaraz can even become the world no. 1 later in his career.
