Following Marin Cilic and Rafael Nadal's recent runs in Paris over the last two weeks, Andy Murray is drawing inspiration from their achievements.

It has been a long-known fact that neither Marin Cilic, Rafael Nadal, nor Andy Murray are getting any younger, and with questions over retirement constantly looming for that generation of players, they have decided to let their playing do the talking.

Both the Croat and the Spaniard have had successful weeks at Roland Garros, with them securing a semi-final and a final spot, respectively. All this comes as there are ever-growing question marks over their future in the sport.

This form has not gone unnoticed by others their age either, with Scot Andy Murray taking a keen eye on what players of the same generation are achieving. When speaking to the BBC, he made no bones about how much this inspires someone like him.

“I can take some inspiration from those guys.  I don’t know whether it’s Rafa [Nadal’s] last run or not. Because he seems to be doing physically really well during the event, so I hope he’s able to continue going for a while."

He continued on to talk about his personal relationship with Cilic and how he is still making history.

“Cilic as well, he’s someone I grew up with in the juniors and played with a lot. He has just made the semis of the French for the first-ever time at 33 and is playing really well.”

Whilst it is true that Murray may not be in the best form just yet, the other two are not playing with a metal hip, showing the grit and determination that the Scot has to still be out there competing with the best.

Currently, Murray is ranked 67th in the world, hoping to build momentum and form heading into Wimbledon later this month.
