The 2023 ATP Finals lineup has been officially set as Holger Rune and Alexander Zverev secured the final two spots at the Paris Masters.
It was a pretty interesting race this time around, with a few players battling for the final two spots at the event. Ultimately, it goes to Alexander Zverev and Holger Rune after both did enough at this final big event to secure that spot.
Hubert Hurkacz and Alex de Minaur were the most likely to push them out, but neither did enough to get it done. So it's a return for Zverev at the event, as the German actually won it two years ago.
It's also a tremendous achievement, considering his return to tennis earlier this year. It didn't look pretty; he was losing a lot of matches but played really well in the second half of the year to earn enough points to be in Turin.
It's a remarkable turnaround, something he also marveled at himself recently. On the other hand, the qualification for Rune means a lot because it's the first time he'll be playing at the ATP Finals.
It's a well-deserved honor for him because, for a good part of the year, he's been one of the best players in the world. Up until Wimbledon, he was amazing but then fell apart in the next few months, causing him almost to miss the event.
The line-up is now set, November 12th till the 19th in Turin. The celebration of tennis with the best of the best. Novak Djokovic is front and center, with Carlos Alcaraz, Danii, Medvedev, Jannik Sinner, and Stefanos Tsitsipas not far behind.
The final three spots went to Andrey Rublev, Holger Rune and Alexander Zverev. The defending champion is Novak Djokovic as he went undefeated at the event last year. We'll see if Holger Rune can get in the mix or whether Zverev can possibly go all the way again.
