Retired Barty Announces Next Career Move And It's Not Related To Tennis

Ashleigh Barty has made a decision on what her next career move will be like, and it does not involve picking up a tennis racket.

Barty, a three-time Grand Slam champion, shocked the tennis world last year when she announced her retirement from the sport at the age of 25 and at the peak of her game. She spent a total of 121 weeks as the WTA No. 1 - a distinction she held when she hung up her racket.

The bombshell news came just a couple of months from her Melbourne coronation when she ended a 44-year wait for a home champion in singles at the Australian Open. Barty defeated first-time finalist Danielle Collins in his last professional tennis match.

In the aftermath of her retirement, Barty revealed that she had fulfilled what she set to accomplish in her playing career and was looking to "enjoy" the next part of her life as a "person" and not as an "athlete. Barty walked down the aisle last July after tying the knot with longtime partner Garry Kissick.

Within a year, they welcomed their first child, a healthy and bubbly baby son named Hayden, born in July 2023. Recently, she was spotted on a tennis court, but has made her clearly stated in the past that her hands are "full" carrying her baby and walking her pet dogs.

Barty has announced her newest venture and will be releasing a children's picture book in March 2024, with the story entailing a mother's dream for her new baby. This will be her second book and comes a year after her Little Ash picture book series.

The Aussie has partnered with Jasmin McGaughey and illustrator Jade Goodwin for the release of the new book 'My Dream For You'. She has made no secret about her passion of being an author and her son has certainly been an inspiration.

"It’s a celebration of the possibilities that await new babies, a testament to the hope that every parent holds, and a reminder that our dreams can shape a brighter future for our children. I hope new parents and their little ones love reading it as much as our family does."
