'Alcaraz & Sinner One Step Ahead Of Rune' According To Seppi

by Sebastian Dahlman

Former longtime ATP player Andreas Seppi thinks that Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner are one step ahead of Holger Rune right now.

Holger Rune was recently asked about possibly forming a new Big Three together with Sinner and Alcaraz, as they are the three most talented young players on Tour. The Dane dismissed that immediately, but in many ways, they are genuinely the top three young players on Tour right now.

Alcaraz is clearly ahead of both right now as the current number one and with a Grand Slam trophy though Seppi thinks that the rest will catch up eventually. He talked to Sportskeeda about the next-gen breaking down how he sees them as players.

Jannik has a very powerful game and he plays close to the line and very fast. Their head-to-head is 3-3 so he has the best chance of this new generation to put Alcaraz under pressure. Jannik, in the end, has the speed and how he takes the ball on the rise. I think physically he's still a little bit behind but if you give him maybe another couple of years, he can surely win one or many I would say," he added.

When bringing Holger Rune into the mix then, Seppi sees him as the 3rd right now. It's not only natural, as he only recently joined the top ranks of tennis, but he has been rapidly improving ever since emerging as a player. He will have a chance to prove how well he can take on Alcaraz when they play in the quarter-final.

Alcaraz is already a complete player he's doing everything well, moving well and so it's going to be interesting. I would say Alcaraz and Sinner, and this is just my view, are one step ahead of (Holger) Rune. But maybe I'm wrong and Rune is going to be the one who has the best results from the three.

The Italian was also asked about the upcoming conclusion of Wimbledon and he picked Novak Djokovic as the likeliest to win the event. Still, as an Italian, Seppi would like to see a different winner, preferably Sinner, but it's still unlikely.

You have to probably go with Djokovic but I would love to see a different winner [at Wimbledon]. I think Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz have the best chance to put him under under pressure. So, I hope to see a different winner but it's it's probably going be Novak again.
