Alcaraz Records His 100th Consecutive Week In Top 10 After Indian Wells Win

Carlos Alcaraz hasn't been around for many years, but he's been great for pretty much the entirety of his time in the top level of tennis.

It didn't take the young Spaniard long to establish himself as one of the best players on the ATP Tour. His first full year on Tour saw him improve his ranking by more than 100 positions.

His second year established him as one of the best players in the world, and he literally finished as the world number one. If you look at his name in the record books, you'll find his name next to 'youngest' quite often.

He became the youngest number one after winning the US Open in 2022, which speaks volumes in a sport that has players like Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal.

That early success obviously improved his ranking, and after his most recent win at the Indian Wells Open, Alcaraz began his 100th week inside the Top 10 of the ATP Rankings.

That's a pretty significant milestone for a player who hasn't been part of the sport for many years, and entered the Top 10 only in April 2022, and never left it since. On top of his streak in the Top 10, he's been one of the Top 2 players for the past 75 weeks.

He's only played two full seasons so far and about half a season in 2021, with three months this year. That's less than three years, and a year has 52 weeks.

That means he's been ranked inside the Top 10 for about 60% of the time he's been a professional tennis player. That's an absurd stat, and it just shows how strong he is as a player. With his latest triumph, the Spanish player shouldn't leave the elite ten anytime soon, prolonging his stay even further.
