On Monday, Carlos Alcaraz won't be the highest-ranked player on the ATP Tour anymore but he's not bothered by it.

The teenager from Spain rose back atop the ATP Rankings after winning the 2023 Indian Wells, but he had to defend his title in Miami to keep his spot. However, Alcaraz lost to Jannik Sinner in the 2023 Miami Open semifinals and that means he will also lose his spot. Speaking about the match following the loss, he said:

"I had my opportunities to break in the second set and serving for the match, but really against Sinner is always a tough battle. It's tough to put into words but I think it was a great match for both."

Novak Djokovic will become the World No. 1 on Monday, but Alcaraz isn't really thinking about losing the no. 1 spot. On the other hand, he wanted to complete the Sunshine Double, but he knows he'll have many more years to do that.

"I don't think about that I lost the No. 1, I lost the Sunshine Double. Of course, it's a shame, but I think I'm gonna have more years to try to get it."

The rivalry between Sinner and Alcaraz is slowly becoming a tennis classic and the Spaniard also feels like there's something different when he's playing against his Italian rival.

"I feel something different about the crowd when I play against Jannik. I think around the world is probably all the people watching this match because I think it's really beautiful to watch."
