The 2023 Moselle Open will have a late start this year, but that doesn't mean players won't come back, as the tournament flexed its prize money purse.
Eight of the world's Top 20 players will make their way to "The Green City". Metz is a city of monuments and extensive public gardens, but those are not the reasons why 28 ATP players will travel to compete at the 2023 Moselle Open. The tournament will run from November 5th to 11th.
Apart from marveling at the city's impressive cathedrals and beautiful parks, players will have the chance to win points and prize money. This year, the tournament has committed €562,815 in its prize money pot, which translates to an estimated increase of 5.3% from last year.
The top seed at the event will be Denmark's Holger Rune, who is looking to finish the season in a more positive way in light of his recent turbulent time. Rune will have the company of fellow Scandinavian Casper Ruud who will play in this tournament for the first time.
Poland's Hubert Hurkacz won the tournament back in 2021, and he enters this year's field as the third seed in the hope that he will be vying for a place in Turin. The same case applies to Alex de Minaur and Tommy Paul who are on the verge of a Top 10 breakthrough.
This minor increase in prize money will be reflected in all rounds of the main draw. The winner will take home a cheque of €85,605, which is at least €4,000 better off than when Lorenzo Sonego won the title 12 months ago. In addition, 250 points will be added to their name in the ATP rankings.
A runner-up will make a fortune too, banking €49,940 and will receive 150 points. The two losing semifinalists will receive 90 points and a cheque of €29,355. Quarterfinalists will make a buck worth €17,010 along with 45 points. Those who win at least one main draw match will pocket €9,880 and 20 points.
Those unlucky players who stumbled at the first hurdle will be compensated with €6,035, but won't get any points. For a complete breakdown of prize money and points, be sure to check the table below.
