It's rather well known that Alex de Minaur is dating a fellow player in Katie Boulter and she recently spoke about trying to be as humble as him.
De Minaur is a very good tennis player who is improving with every year. This year has been the best we've seen him play, which the run at the 2023 Canadian Open in Toronto certainly proves.
His girlfriend Katie Boulter is having a really solid year as well, as she finally won her maiden WTA trophy earlier this year. She won it on native soil, which was really special, and overall, she's just solidified herself as a really good player in recent months.
Some of that inspiration came from her boyfriend, who is a very hard worker and a humble tennis player. She deeply admires that and tries to emulate it, which she revealed in a recent interview with The Telegraph.
I’m not hugely into that side of things, though I appreciate the attention at times. I am proud of the way that I have handled it this year & it’s definitely been a little bit different. I learnt a lot from Alex… he’s been in the spotlight for many, many years from a young age, as an Aussie in Australia.
The way that he handles it & the way that he’s so humble is something that I really try to be like. There aren’t many people like that & it’s one of the biggest things I admire about him.”
Finding yourself in the spotlight is certainly something that takes adjusting to. Nobody is really prepared for it, but some are better equipped like de Minaur who has dealt with that for many years.
It's a bit different for Boulter, but having someone so close to her being able to provide insight certainly helped her greatly.
