Coco Gauff joked at the US Open media day with Frances Tiafoe about his serve, claiming that she can hit faster serves than he can.
Gauff has had a funny relationship with her serve as it was, at times, both her biggest weapon and most significant weakness. It used to complicate matches greatly for her, but lately, there seemed to be no problem in her game, as she dominated the WTA Tour over the past few weeks.
She joked about her serve at the US Open media day recently, explaining that she has doubts about fulfilling the request of coach Brad Gilbert. He wants her to hit 130 mph, something she thinks may not be possible. Tiafoe was present on the court during the media day, and Gauff quickly used the chance for some quick banter, claiming her serve was faster than his.

The only proper way to settle this is to have them play a match or do a serve competition, something both would certainly enjoy, but right now, they are preparing for a very important US Open. Tiafoe made the semi-final last year, and expectations are high for him.
Gauff has played spectacular tennis lately, so many expect her to do well this year. She has a clear goal, but time will tell whether she gets it done. Her opponent is unknown as of now, as she drew a qualifier. Last year's run ended in the quarter-final, and the goal is to eclipse that and go all the way.
When it comes to Tiafoe, he'll start against fellow compatriot and talent Lerner Tien. That's going to be a great match, so don't miss it. The event begins on Monday, August 28th, and we'll have all the coverage for you ready. In the meantime, check out the video of Gauff teasing Tiafoe below.
