Coco Gauff is going to enter the US Open after a really succesfull August and she's confident about extending that to the major as well.
The American arrived in back home in the US after a somewhat disappointing summer in Europe. The results weren't good; she was not playing well, and there was a lot of doubt about her future. Fast forward to now, and the picture looks much more promising.
She won the Citi Open and then followed that good performance with another one at the Cincinnati Masters. It's by far her biggest trophy ever and put her firmly in the conversation for a potential deep run at the US Open. It's certainly the dream and a goal for her.
For me, the most important thing is to try to minimize the moment because the moment can seem so big. It was probably easier when I first started playing.— Gauff about winning Cincinnati<br>
Winning multiple matches at a Grand Slam isn't anything new for her. She's done it in the past but probably didn't understand the significance of it. She understands now and it brings added pressure though she's trying to manage it as best she can.
I think I just didn't really understand the whole thing that was going on, especially in 2019 when I had that run. I didn’t understand how big of a deal it was. And I think now I do have that understanding, so sometimes I make it almost too much of a deal when it's not. So, I do find myself trying to go back to that mindset that I had, but obviously I'm a different person then than now, so it's not that easy.”ž
She downplayed expectations about the US Open after her Cincinnati win but don't be fooled - she will attempt to win it. It would be a great story.
