Iga Swiatek is rolling on at Wimbledon as the Polish player earned her 40th win of the year by beating Sara Sorribes Tormo in straight sets.

Both Swiatek and Sorribes Tormo prefer to play on clay but on grass, it was the WTA number one who got it done. Swiatek played only one warm-up event and nearly made the final with an illness preventing her to do that.

Those matches played there were quite important for her to get some confidence ahead of Wimbledon and they did their trick. After declaring to be healthy ahead of the event, Swiatek started off with an impressive performance in the first round.

The second round saw her take on Sara Sorribes Tormo for the first time in her career and it was a good performance once more. She is truly proving to be quite a specialist on this surface with her tremendous ball striking. A very cerebral player, Sorribes Tormo attempted to confuse Swiatek but it didn't work because power trumps all.

Swiatek blasted 13 winners in the opening set to take it 6-2. The Spaniard only had two which was a huge difference and the crucial reason why Swiatek ran away with the opening set. The second set opened with an early break for Swiatek who continued to dominate the rallies.

She then took a double break lead and then added another break to finish things off. The final score was 6-2 6-0 for Swiatek who absolutely crushed Sorribes Tormo with her much better hitting ability.

She had a total of 26 winners compared to only 3 by Sorribes Tormo. The Spaniard is not an aggressive player by rule but this was a proper shellacking. Only four points dropped for Swiatek behind her first serve, 9 on her serve total. She won 13 of 15 points on the second serve of Sorribes Tormo. Very very impressive.
