Iga Swiatek will face good friend Kaja Juvan in the next round of the US Open, and she's ready to put the friendship on pause.
Swiatek doesn't have many close relationships on the WTA Tour, but Kaja Juvan is certainly one of the closest friendships she has. They played doubles together and have played in the singles as well, and another one of those is coming up at the US Open.
It's a pretty big match for both players, as Swiatek would like to defend her trophy from last year, while this is the best outing from Juvan in a while. They had dinner two days ago, which was confirmed by Swiatek in the post-match press conference after her win over Daria Saville.
It doesn't really matter. We know how to keep it cool and we already played couple of times against each other. Last time in Roland Garros, 2021. You know, I think we both can kind of cut off the off-court friendship and just play our game, and then we are friends back. At least there's nothing crazy is going to happen.
