Swiatek Opens Up About Advice She Got From Federer As World No. 1

Iga Swiatek has been world number one for over a year, but remaining so takes a lot of work, and Roger Federer gave her some advice about it.

Federer, of course, spent a good chunk of his career as the number one player in the world, and for many, he's the number one all-time. Swiatek has similar ambitions and embraced some advice from Federer when she talked to him.

Federer and Swiatek don't have many connections, but the On brand is one important. Federer invested in the brand and teamed up with them to create a signature line of shoes. Swiatek and Shelton were the first players to switch to the brand and expect more to follow.

Having Roger Federer vouch for the company is a pretty good selling point. That connection between them will likely see them interact more in the future, so she'll have plenty of chances to talk to Federer again. For now, she shared her impressions of their last meeting, during her press conference at the US Open.

Well, honestly, I feel like he embraced everything. When he was on tour it seems like from his perspective it was, like, mainly fun. I also heard from other people that even, like, 30 minutes before a final he could chat and be relaxed.

He's that kind of guy. I think there is something we can learn from that. But for sure I'm a little bit different person. I need to really stay in the zone and bubble and be focused. So for sure it was nice to hear about the other perspective.

The meeting was pretty short, so there wasn't much time to talk in-depth about anything. Still, she was grateful for the chance to meet one of the biggest legends of the sport of tennis and get an idea of how he approached things.

You know, it's tough to, like for him also to give advice in such a short talk, you know, especially when we don't see each other every day on tour, because when he finished I just started.

But I'm really happy that I had the opportunity to talk to him a little bit more and just see how he approaches some stuff, you know. For sure he was pretty open to tell me that.
