'Getting Sick From It': Kasatkina On Being Surrounded By Tennis At US Open

Daria Kasatkina made a hilarious remark in regard to trying to disengage from tennis when facing the pressures of competing at the 2023 US Open.

Kasatkina battled through a rollercoaster ride of a second-round encounter, coming back from a set and a break down against Sofia Kenin, and she dug incredibly deep to turn things back into her favour.

The Russian, who joked about playing under a rainbow flag, was being outhit at the beginning of the match but she was gradually able to make the match more physical, wear the American down and utilise her top-spin forehand to better effect.

In the Russian's on-court interview after the match, she joked about ways in which she alleviates the stress that her job often has on her, and how she tries her best to switch off from the pressures of a Grand Slam fortnight.

"I wish I knew what to do to forget about tennis. Because it is always just spinning around here in the head. Sometimes I'm getting sick from it. Especially when you are in the Slam, when you are trying hard to just turn off your head and think about something else. It is just everywhere in the city."

"You go for a walk, and everywhere is the US Open advertising. It is impossible to forget. Then you are coming back to your room, you turn on your TV and tennis is there. If you'll find out something on how to turn off your head without using alcohol for example, you tell me, okay?"

Kasatkina will now face Greet Minnen in the third round as she looks to book her place into the fourth round at the US Open for just the second time in her career. Minnen won't be easy, as she has looked dangerous since coming through qualifying, but Kasatkina does go into this as the favourite on paper.
