At this year's US Open, Serena Williams played her last professional tennis match on the WTA Tour, but since doing so, she hinted her comeback numerous times.
It's never easy for a professional athlete to leave the sport that they've been doing their whole life. And that's most probably the case also for Serena Williams. The 23-time Grand Slam champion enjoyed her farewell at the US Open and it showed her more than fans' appreciation of her career.
The 41-years-old American played three very good matches that showed her, that she's able to compete with the best. Now, she enjoys her time off the tennis courts but hints a comeback every now and then.
This time, Williams posted a picture of her tennis racket on social media and added a caption that stated: "I'm a little bored."
Recently, when speaking about her possible comeback, she said: "I'm ready to, like, be a mom, explore a different version of Serena," said Williams. "Technically in the world I'm still super young, so I want to have a little bit of a life while I'm still walking."
"(I) don't know (if it was my last match)," said Serena Williams. "I'm not thinking about that. I always did love Australia, though (smiling). But yeah, you know what, I've come a long way since last year at Wimbledon."
