Coco Gauff once again reiterated her intention to work on her forehand in the off-season in hopes of unlocking that part of her game.
Coco Gauff broke out as a 15-year-old a few years ago and since then blossomed into a very good player. She is certainly one of the most talented players to emerge in recent memory but her ascension to the top hasn't gone as anticipated.
The American has been good, secured a number one rank in doubles, won multiple WTA trophies, and got to a Grand Slam final. To get to the next level she'll need to work on her forehand, something many have already talked about. Rennae Stubbs urged her first to improve the forehand because players were starting to exploit it regularly.
It's in the works as the American recently admitted that she's going to work on it in the off-season. It's not an easy fix to do in the middle of the season which is why she's postponing it until then. In her pre-Wimbledon press conference, Gauff was asked about possibly working with the former coach of Serena Williams, Rick Macci, and she said that it's a possibility.
Yeah, I haven't spoken to Rick personally. But, yes, him and my dad converse a lot. Not just now but over the years. Yeah, that was one of the options to do that after the season is over. Obviously it's far from now, so I can't really confirm. But, yeah, I believe, based off what you told me, everything is true.
Macci worked with a lot of players over the years including America's greats such as Serena Williams, Venus Williams, Andy Roddick and many more. He told us exclusively a few months ago that Gauff would dominate the sport if she took care of her forehand. Well, it's time to see whether Macci is right, especially if he gets to be the one to fix her forehand.
