'Nice To Be Reintroduced': Raducanu Steps Up Comeback Preparations

by Sebastian Dahlman

Emma Raducanu has spent quite a bit of time away from the WTA Tour, but the British player is getting back to it with some gym time.

Raducanu has been away from the sport since the Miami Open after which she underwent triple surgery to address issues in both of her wrists and an ankle. The ankle injury was the last one that happened to her, as it occurred during a slip in Auckland.

It was unfortunate that Raducanu had to step away but she simply couldn't nurse the injuries to health even with everything she tried. They needed to be surgically addressed, and that's what she did. The recovery timetable was never quite known, as Raducanu never put a date on it.

She spoke about her career openly in a recent interview admitting that in ways she wishes, she had never won the US Open. It created a lot of pressure and, more importantly, a lot of unrealistic expectations, expectations that she couldn't reach.

News about her omission from the US Open entry list made rounds on social media recently further indicating that her return will take a while. It's not clear when but she's working towards being back on the courts as footage from her gym sessions has appeared online.

Raducanu herself posted the last batch of them showing herself doing some serious work in the gym. The post had a caption that said it was nice to reintroduced alluding to the fact that she hasn't been doing much since the surgeries.

hi! 🤩 first few steps but nice to be reintroduced 👋.

Despite that, Raducanu was spotted out and bout with her rumoured boyfriend. They were in Mexico earlier this year and also in Greece recently, so she stayed busy. Right now, it's back to work, though, as she hopes to make a return by the end of the year. Her only confirmed participation is an exhibition in Macau in December.
