Navratilova Backs Roland Garros Finalist Muchova For Successful Grass Season

| by Sebastian Dahlman

Karolina Muchova recently had her career highlight at Roland Garros making the final and coming very close to winning the title.

Muchova has always been a very good player capable of going all the way at a big event. The Czech player famously stunned Ashleigh Barty in Melbourne one year before the Australian won the event and retired from tennis.

It showed that she could withstand all the pressure and win big matches against favoured players. What she managed to do there, she failed to do in Paris recently. Being up a break twice in the final set didn't prove enough as Swiatek was able to turn things around and win the event.

Still, it was a major feat for the Czech player, a comeback to the top in the best possible way setting herself up to finish this year on a high note. It's even more impressive after some behind-the-scenes things became known recently.

Her compatriot and legendary WTA player Martina Navratilova enjoyed the run of the player. She praised her for what she did in a recent interview following the conclusion of the event last week.

Of course, I enjoyed it. Karolina Muchova was close, five points away from winning. She played fantastically. I really liked her. She had a lot of injuries in her career, so I was happy that she was able to come back like this.

Navratilova on Muchova

The way Muchova plays tennis will make her a dangerous opponent at Wimbledon. She has a good serve and various ways of finishing off points. Navratilova, like many others, hopes that she will be in great shape for Wimbledon because it would be great to see her put together another good run.

I hope she will feel good physically for the upcoming Wimbledon. I believe that she will have a chance to succeed even now on grass.
