Karolina Pliskova played in a Wimbledon final losing to Barty and she explained why it's so hard to win a Grand Slam.

Undoubtedly one of the most iconic tennis events of all time, Wimbledon has been won by many great players. It's truly a place where the magic happens but it's one of the hardest events to win due to several things.

Pliskova knows how tough it is as she came really close a few years when she made the final. Ashleigh Barty proved better in that one and according to the Czech player, it comes down to timing. The grass season is short and there is not a lot of time to really prepare well for it.

I feel like you have just two, three weeks, so it just have to be the timing, you have to be, you just have to time also like your shape in that year, to have couple matches that year already that you won and just to feel good. Because then you have two tournaments and then you have Wimbledon. Some players, they just play one. You try one tournament and then you go straight to Grand Slam.

Finding a good rhythm on grass is very crucial and it's not so easily done unless you're a legendary player like Djokovic who rarely plays any warm-ups before the event. For Pliskova, sometimes it works out for some players and that's more luck than anything else.

I feel like there is not enough time to really like find the timing. I think sometimes can be lucky. Sometimes you just, of course, like Wimbledon is a tournament where you can play, you can close your eyes and you can, I mean, win it.

She'll have another chance to try and win it later this year as last year's attempt didn't go too well.
