In a recent interview on the Russia-Ukraine crisis, Iga Swiatek said that while the war was not the players' fault, it was still their social responsibility.

Swiatek has been outspoken and open about her opinions of the war since it first broke out earlier this year. She always expressed sympathy for Ukranians and promised to talk about it until the situation gets results. In line with that, Swiatek touched upon the topic recently in a talk with Interia Wydarzenia.

"To be honest, this is a complicated situation and I don't really want to make such a decision myself, because I know that there are many wise people, even in the WTA and ATP, who could, for example, declare themselves in advance and guide us in such a way that it does not affect the mood in the locker room or the personal relations between the players" said Swiatek adding:

"On the one hand, I know that it is not their fault that their country started the war, but on the other hand, there is social responsibility."

The Elina Svitolina foundation, United 24, and UNICEF Polska, three organizations that have played a crucial role in supporting the most vulnerable since the start of the war, each received PLN 2 million thanks to Swiatek's organization of an exhibition match in her home country of Poland.
