Coco Gauff is an avid user of social media, but despite that, she's not particularly concerned with her following on the platforms.
The American, like most people her age, essentially grew up with social media as it's a huge part of her life. She's professed earlier that she loves Tik Tok for example, in her own words admitting that she spends way too much time on the platform.
Even so, it's not something the second-highest-ranked American on the WTA Tour concerns herself with. She doesn't count or care about followers, which she admitted in a recent interview with the Tennis Channel. It's a good mindset to have because people can get very obsessed with social media, and it's not very healthy.
I kind of of like when it goes down I mean like when it goes down yeah. I don’t care about the followers I kind of like when it’s a little more intimate that’s why I stay on TikTok a little bit more because it’s the least followed. I even made like another TikTok account that only has like may be 600 followers because not that many people found it and I kind of like that account.
Tennis players and social media generally have a love-hate relationship. It's necessary as a platform because of their various activities and brand deals, but it's also a very toxic place that sees them get all sorts of hate.
Many have publicly spoken about the issue, including Gauff, who admitted that hate on social media doesn't really bother her. It really shouldn't, but it's pretty hard to filter out some of the things people wish or say.
Gauff has been part of the Tour for a while now so she's experienced even though her age would place her among the youngest professionals.
