Ajla Tomljanovic experienced an unpleasant situation after her Wimbledon exit today with a reporter asking her a question about the Kyrgios abuse case.
Nick Kyrgios was accused of assault by his former girlfriend Chiara Passari with the Australian player set to appear before a court in Canberra next month. He won't be able to participate in some of the events in North America due to that which is very dissapointing for him and he's already released a statemenet regarding the matter.
Ajla Tomljanovic dated Kyrgios a couple of years ago and following her loss to Elena Rybakina today the Australian player was shocked when the first question in her press conference was about Kyrgios. She highlighted the issue on social media calling out the reporter without any name-dropping. She also pleaded with the media to do better.
Quite disappointing that after almost 2 hours of playing my quarterfinals that that was the first question the journalist chose to ask me, and never proceeded to ask anything match related. Glad to see headlines mostly about that now. Do better.
