Another Setback: Ajla Tomljanovic Forced To Withdraw From 2023 Wimbledon

A very bad season for Ajla Tomljanovic became even worse as the Australian was forced to abandon plans of playing at Wimbledon.

Ajla Tomljanovic has had a really solid career with the past few years rather strong overall. Grass has been a really solid surface for her as she reached the Wimbledon quarter-final in back-to-back years, this year though will be different as the Australian wasn't able to recover in time to play at the event.

Tomljanovic has had a very upsetting season as she's yet to play a single match this year. She was supposed to make her debut earlier this year in Australia but a knee injury kept her away from the courts. She's missed every WTA event since then and has yet to return. Her withdrawal was accompanied by a statement.

After experiencing many special emotions and memories at Wimbledon over the last few years I had very high hopes of making my return there this year. Unfortunately, my knee is still asking for just a bit more time before I can have full confidence in it in order to play at my best level.

Last year's Wimbledon had a funny scene when Tomljanovic's father didn't book her hotel long enough expecting her to lose earlier than she ultimately did. It was shown in Break Point as was her break up with Berrettini which was the start of bad things for both players.

Neither managed to do anything since their split although the split is not the reason obviously. Both struggled with injuries since then and are yet to return properly. It's unfortunate for Tomljanovic but she's eager to step up onto the courts as soon as she can so hopefully it's coming soon.

"Really eager to get back out there but this year Wimbledon came a bit sooner than I was ready for. I know it will be worth the wait and am already looking forward to next year."
