Bianca Andreescu will be playing in the fourth round of the 2023 Miami Open after beating another difficult opponent.

In the first round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Miami, the young Canadian defeated fellow Grand Slam champion Emma Raducanu in three difficult sets, winning the match 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.

Then, she defeated the seventh-seeded Maria Sakkari, in what was an even more challenging match for Andreescu. She won 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 before taking on yet another major winner, Sofia Kenin.

The American played two good matches at the 2023 Miami Open, but Andreescu beat her twice in the past, and she wasn't the favourite entering the third-round match.

Both players are trying to regain the form that led them to a Grand Slam triumph, and according to Andreescu's words, she currently plays only at around 75% of her potential.

Andreescu wanted to follow up on two previous wins against Kenin, and she started in line with that objective. The American lost a 30-love lead on her second service game as her opponent won seven consecutive points to lead 3-1 in the opening set.

The Canadian then kept her advantage throughout the set, never allowing Kenin to win more than two points on her serve. After 39 minutes, she won the first set 6-4, shifting the momentum to her side and getting an important lead in the third-round match.

In the second set, the 2019 US Open champion built a quick 4-1 lead, but this time it wouldn't be easy sailing for Andreescu. Kenin broke back and posed a challenge on the following service games of her opponent.

Yet, Andreescu kept her cool to win the match 6-4, 6-4, and advance to the fourth round of the 2023 Miami Open, where she'll await the winner of the match between the ninth-seeded Belinda Bencic and the eighteenth-seeded Ekaterina Alexandrova.
