Amanda Anisimova Launches New Project 'Dedicated To Protecting Mental Health'

Amanda Anisimova stepped away from tennis earlier this year due to burnout, and she's making moves towards shining a light on mental health.

Stepping away from the game to focus on one's mental health wasn't done by Anisimova first. We saw a few players like Naomi Osaka and Bianca Andreescu do that on the WTA Tour. It's not just specific to the younger generation of players, as Garbine Muguruza did it earlier this year.

Amanda Anisimova opted to pause her tennis career, citing burnout, and it's been something she's enjoyed despite missing the sport. Anisimova launched a website to highlight further the need to protect your mental health.

The website will serve as a platform to sell her original paintings because she's been dedicating time to that hobby while away from the sport. The launch of the website contained some words from Anisimova on the endeavour.

I decided to launch this website dedicated to promoting and protecting mental health in all aspects of life. I believe that everyone deserves access to resources and support, no matter what their background or circumstances may be.

Mental health is a crucial component of overall well-being. It affects how we feel, think, act, and can have a profound impact on our relationships, work, and daily life. Yet, mental health is often stigmatized or overlooked, leading to lack of access to resources.

It's a nice contribution from Anisimova to the project as she continues to try and help people on the same journey she's on. Anisimova last stood on the courts at the Madrid Open and, since then, has been largely away from the sport.

There is no timetable on her return to the sport but it's pretty clear that it won't be happening this year. If anything we might not see her at the start of the next year either.
