16-Year-Old Andreeva Admits She Tries To Copy Nadal's Mentality

Mirra Andreeva grew up with Roger Federer being her favourite player but she adopted Rafael Nadal as a role model after his 2022 Roland Garros triumph.

Mirra Andreeva is proving herself to be a very good tennis player as she booked the second week of the Wimbledon Championships in her first appearance at the event. It came after a stern performance against compatriot Anastasia Potapova.

The win proved that Andreeva's earlier victories in the qualifiers weren't some fluke and that she actually can play really well on the surface. She's probably the biggest rising star on the WTA Tour and every one of her steps is closely followed.

She's not as familiar with the grass as she is with clay but with her talents, that doesn't matter much. The match itself was a really strong tactical performance as she problem-solved on the spot, even when things didn't go that well for her.

After the match, Andreeva was asked which players she looks up to and she admitted to liking Roger Federer the most growing up. As Federer didn't play that much lately, she turned her attention to Rafal Nadal whose 2022 Roland Garros triumph amazed her.

Yes, I always admire Federer and he was always my favorite player. But after Nadal, he won French Open in 2022. I was really impressed because after an injury, he came back, he won the Australian Open, he won French Open.

After that, I can say that now mental-wise I just try sometimes to copy him. I just try to remember what would he do in these moments, what would he do on the score. Sometimes, yes, I can say that I copy him. So yes...

The Russian is capturing the attention of the world in real-time with her amazing performances and just likable personality. She's already the darling of the media.
