Alexander Zverev will be defending the Gold Medal at the 2024 Olympics, and it seems to be his top priority for the upcoming season.

The 2024 season is a special one as it will be enriched by the Olympic Games, which only happen every four years. The previous games were held in 2021 due to the pandemic, which postponed them by one year, and Alexander Zverev won them.

The run was majestic in many ways as it featured a sensational comeback win over Novak Djokovic, which nobody saw coming. It's arguably the biggest achievement of Zverev's career, as he's yet to win a Grand Slam or become number one.

Even when he does, the gold medal will be one of his greatest achievements because you don't get many chances to play for many. Djokovic has played at several Olympics and has yet to win one, which tells you how tricky it can be. In any case, defending the medal was a top priority for the German, in his own words.

It's definitely something that I really am much looking forward to, as defending champion. I think the Olympics are always very, very special.

This year's Olympic games will be a bit different, though. While generally played on hard courts, this year's will be played on clay and on a court that Zverev knows all too well.

Roland Garros was the place where one of the darkest moments of his career happened. It's the ankle injury that some deemed career-ending when it happened.

Luckily, it wasn't, and the German is back to his former self, approaching the event with no fear. It's the biggest one of the year for him, and the really strong showings he's had in Paris in the past are certainly a confidence booster for him.

It is probably the biggest event of the year, in my opinion, in my eyes, because the Olympics is once every four years. It is special in that regard. I'm definitely looking forward to being in the Olympic Village again," and "being in these smallish apartments where you're all together, just enjoying the time. That's what I did in Tokyo. Kind of worked out very well.
