Alexander Zverev remained on the court for a while after his match to practice some serves after being unimpressed with the way he finished things off.
Alexander Zverev played a pretty decent match against Grigor Dimitrov beating him in three sets but he wasn't particularly happy with the way he finished off the match. Zverev was up 3-0 in the final set of the match, however, he lost that break making things a bit closer than he would have liked. He did finish things off in the 3rd set with 6-3 but he did a similar thing in the second set.
Dimitrov had some good chances to take the match further than 3 sets, but he didn't hit good shots when it mattered the most. For Zverev, the serve in particular became shaky toward the end which is why he remained on the court a bit to practice serves. Asked by reporters about it, he said.
Why? Because I felt like at 3-0 in the third set I got very unfocused. You know, I kind of thought the match was over before having it over, and, you know, I was not concentrated anymore, and my serve went missing a little bit. So I just wanted to get the feeling of having that back, because it's going to be important for after tomorrow, I think.
It remains to be seen whether it worked but Zverev will need his serve if he hopes to do as well as he hopes to do in the next few rounds. His next match is against Tomas Martin Etcheverry, a player who has been playing really well at the moment.
Things will only get harder after that as he would be in the semi-final which is quite remarkable considering he parted ways with his coach leading up to the event.
