"Up There With Djokovic & Nadal" - Opelka Impressed By Alcaraz

Reilly Opelka thinks that Carlos Alcaraz is on the level of Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal because he's pretty hard to beat.

Not many would disagree with Opelka that Carlos Alcaraz is very hard to beat because there are many proofs of this theory. Not many defeated him this or last year and it's just going to get harder as he becomes even better next year.

The American watched Alcaraz play at the Miami Open and Indian Wells being very impressed with what he provided. He doesn't think anybody from the US has what it takes to properly challenge him as he referenced Fritz's and Alcaraz's clash in Miami.

I don't think we'll ever get a guy to beat Alcaraz. Like, Taylor Fritz is the best American hands down right now. He's just so consistent, he takes care of everyone he's supposed to. But now, you know, with Alcaraz coming up and Holger Rune. Look what happened in Miami. As great as a ball striker as Fritz is, Alcaraz is so fast.

Alcaraz has already won a grand slam, he has won 10 ATP trophies in his career as well and finished last year as the number-one ranked player in the world. To Opelka it's pretty clear that Alcaraz has already reached the level of iconic players such as Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. To him it's those three up there and then everybody else.

Tennis-wise, he is up there with Novak and Rafa.

Alcaraz is in Rome this week where he will take part in the Italian Open. It's the first time he plays the event and it's coming off of a recent triumph at the Madrid Open where he never really looked on the brink of defeat. The Spaniard is widely considered one of the top favourites for Roland Garros, quite possibly the biggest favourite for the event.
