Novak Djokovic praised the Spanish crowd for showing up to watch the Davis Cup matches in Valencia, even when they didn't have local players playing.

This Davis Cup format essentially sees only one nation in every group enjoy fan support because they are the host nation. Regarding Serbia's group, it was Spain, as the matches were played on their soil in Valencia. Djokovic would have likely preferred to play back home in Serbia, but he felt plenty of love in Valencia.

A lot of people came out to watch him play because he's arguably the best player of all time, so him being a crowd magnet isn't surprising. He was quite thankful for that, expressing gratitude after playing his final match there.

Thank you to all the Spanish people for coming out today. Knowing that you don't have Spanish players playing and they still fill up the stadium and you know gave all of us a warm welcome. They made me feel at home.

It was a productive outing for Djokovic in Valencia as he won a crucial match for Serbia, against Spain no less, to secure them a spot in the knockout stages. He also played a doubles match though that one didn't matter as much and it was a loss.

Now it's time for some resting as the Serbian has been active for a month, though it proved fruitful with the US Open win and the Cincinnati Masters triumph. We don't know how long his rest will be, but there are some rumblings suggesting that he's likely to skip the entire East Asian Tour.

If that proves true, then Djokovic will likely only play a handful of events until the end of the year - probably the Paris Masters, the ATP Finals and the Davis Cup Finals.
