Thanasi Kokkinakis seems to be very motivated to do well in 2023 after enjoying plenty of success in 2022.

Kokkinakis enjoyed one of the best seasons of his tennis career this year. He started it in the best possible way by winning the Australian Open doubles title alongside his good friend Nick Kyrgios.

Since then, the duo managed to lift another title together in Atlanta, and they even played at the ATP Finals. Kokkinakis was able to translate that form also to the singles court. He got through the qualifying in Indian Wells and Miami and even played in the fourth round of the Miami Open.

Before that, the Australian player won his home tournament in Adelaide, and he will want to enjoy even more success in 2023. Ahead of the new season, Kokkinakis talked to the Australian Associated Press, explaining that Grand Slams will be his goal next year.

"You’ve just got to be in really good shape and that’s what I’m working hard on at the moment, getting in real good nick. Then, whatever happens, happens – but definitely making a deep run at a Slam would be a goal."

Kokkinakis explained that beating some of the best players, also in doubles alongside Kyrgios, made him realize that he's capable of achieving big results. Specifically, the Australian would want to make it to the Top 50.

"Especially when you play some of these guys in events and you either beat them or you’re like, ‘Hang on, I’m not that far off’, and you see them make really deep runs. You’ve just got to be consistent physically and mentally and be ready to play but it’s definitely there if I want it."
"[This was] my best year on tour, so I’m stoked. I had some really good wins. It’s just about being consistent and bringing my best effort every time I go out there and play. The next goal for me is top 50 and then go on from there."
